ABOUT THE RECIPE
Have you ever had congee? This savoury rice porridge is an everyday breakfast in China and is often served as a side dish.
METHOD
Add water/stock, ginger and optional ingredients and bring to boil. (If adding fish add this later).
Turn down to simmer and cook for approximately 1 hour.
Add fish (6-8 minutes before serving).
Serve with a dash of Soy Sauce and sliced spring onions to garnish.
INGREDIENTS
1 cup of long grain rice
10/12 cups of water or stock (depends how thick you want your rice porridge)
Thumb piece of ginger thinly sliced
Meat (Chicken, Pork or fish) (optional)
Chinese pickled vegetables (optional)
Salt to taste
