Korean Steamed Bun

ABOUT THE RECIPE 

Steamed buns are quite possibly the best street food ever– variously known as baozi, bao, bakpau, humbow, nunu, bausak, pow; you can find them all over East Asia. Fill these Korean buns with your favourite fillings! 

METHOD 

Place all ingredients into a bowl and mix together. 
 
Knead 5/10 Minutes. 
 
Cover and prove for 1 hour until it's double in size. 
 
Sprinkle with flour and knock it back, removing all the excess air. Roll dough into a sausage and divide into 18/20 equal pieces. 
 
Place on a floured tray, cover and prove for a further hour. 
 
Lightly flour and gently roll out buns into a 10x12cm oval approx 1/2cm thick. Fold in half and lay on a piece of grease proof paper. Steam for 10-12minutes over a medium boil pan. 
 
Fill with your favourite ingredients.

Pinch Salt 
400ml Semi Skimmed Milk 
Heaped Tsp Baking Powder 
Heaped Tsp Bicarbonate of Soda 
1 Sachet Dried Yeast 
Heaped Tbsp Golden Sugar 
50grams Butter
